The gifts of suffering

The world she creates is unusual.
She shows us not quite fitting into her own body; her body-being is linked to her sex, her body-feeling to her gender.
This relationship to herself shows the power of her own feminine energy, and how she decides to translate that energy into 'sexuality'.
Her 'sensuality' is about being aware of who she is with all her desires, and some of those desires she pushes aside.
I photographed her in 2015 and five years later I was allowed to photograph her again. Then and also today, she still has the courage to pursue her dreams.
Coming out openly for gender identity is a struggle against the mainstream. Moreover, deviating from prevailing social norms can be met with persistent social stigma and questions the boundaries of what is acceptable in everyday public life.
